about

samuel

i came to this early — helping my mum with sore shoulders as a kid, carrying my own body pains without knowing what to do with them. the pull toward touch was there before i had any framework for it.

it found me at some unexpected intersections of life. i started with Zen Shiatsu, then kept venturing — through Thai yoga massage, communities, teachers and understandings scattered across the world, back to Australia to dive into remedial massage. each step brought the picture into focus a little more. along the way, craniosacral work, fascial approaches, dynamic Thai, and the teachings of some remarkable practitioners deepened the practice.

i'm a former economist. i came to this through my own body, and i haven't looked back.

my practice has been shaped by people who shared their time, their knowledge, and their passion — across many cultures and many places. i'm grateful for all of it.

the practice

in the Eastern traditions that shape my practice, touch is understood as an extension of meditation practice. the state of mind I bring matters as much as what my hands do.

where Western approaches tend to focus on anatomy and fixing, i understand the Eastern lens to ask something different — how can i support the body's own movement toward change? i think of it like water finding its own level. a container. come as you are.

there's a spiritual dimension to this practice that i don't shy away from — not as something imposed on a session, but as the quality of attention underneath it. there's a real difference between being genuinely present and having my mind somewhere else. i can feel it when i receive bodywork, and i imagine you can too.

slow contact. clear communication. meeting the body as it actually is.

these approaches have roots stretching back centuries. i hold this with respect.

what i offer

01

integrated bodywork

floor-based, fully clothed. drawing from Thai yoga massage, Zen Shiatsu, and craniosacral-influenced work — compression, rocking, stretching, stillness, and slow attentive contact. sessions move at their own pace and follow what's present.

led by listening — to what you say, how you breathe, how your body responds.

02

remedial massage

targeted work for where it hurts, where it's stuck, or where it keeps coming back. drawing on deep tissue, myofascial, and movement-based approaches as needed. delivered with care, not force. the same attention and pace runs through this as everything else i do.

what does integrated bodywork actually feel like?
people describe it differently. some say it feels like having yoga done to them — but slower, more receptive, less effortful. others notice a kind of settling, a dropping in, that's different from regular massage. the work moves through the body in layers — physical, energetic, emotional — not as separate categories but as aspects of the same thing. compression, rocking, stretching, stillness. sometimes deep, sometimes barely-there. the pace follows what's present rather than a fixed routine. i work with Metta — loving-kindness — as an intention underlying the touch. people often leave feeling settled, more connected to themselves, lighter in a way that's hard to explain. sometimes things surface — emotion, memory, sensation — and that's welcome too.
what kinds of things can bodywork support?
people come for all sorts of reasons — muscular tension, postural strain, headaches, nervous system dysregulation, breathing difficulties, and a sense of disconnection from the body. sometimes there's a specific issue, sometimes just a sense that something needs attention. both are welcome. if you have a specific health condition or are unsure whether bodywork is appropriate for you, i'm happy to have a conversation before you book.
what if i have trauma or sensitivities around touch?
whatever arises is welcome here. sessions move at whatever pace feels right — there's no agenda to push through anything. i work with ongoing communication throughout, verbal and somatic — checking in, listening, adjusting. if something doesn't feel right, we slow down or stop. i can't promise to have all the answers, but i can promise care, respect, and genuine attention to what's present.
what should i wear?
for integrated bodywork, loose comfortable clothing — trackpants, leggings, a t-shirt. you stay fully clothed throughout, though occasionally oil or balm may be used on specific areas — i'll check in first. for remedial massage, we use oil or balm and you'll be appropriately draped throughout.
what happens in a session?
we start with a short check-in — where you're at, what you're hoping for, any areas of focus. for remedial massage this includes a brief assessment of the area/s we'll be working with. then treatment, then time to integrate before you head off.
which treatment is right for me?
get in touch — happy to chat it through before you book.
can i receive bodywork during pregnancy?
i have some training in pregnancy bodywork and am continuing to learn in this area. that said, it's not my speciality — if you're pregnant and looking for dedicated pregnancy support, i'd recommend seeking out a practitioner who specialises in this. i'm happy to point you in the right direction.
what if i can't afford the full price?
i offer sliding scale pricing — if you're on a low income, have a disability, or cost is genuinely a barrier, please reach out. it matters to me that price isn't what stops you.
do you have a cancellation policy?
i ask for 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel. cancellations within 24 hours incur the full session fee.

i practise on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, and live with gratitude for the country that holds us all. i acknowledge their deep connection to this land and its healing. i pay my respects to Elders past and present.

i also acknowledge that the bodywork traditions i draw from are rooted in the knowledge of Indigenous and traditional peoples across the world. with deep gratitude for the lineages, people and teachers connected to this work — who have been supporting life, birth and death with these approaches for generations. may this spirit continue to move through my hands and my practice. thank you.
